Remembering A Man Of God
~ Reverend Louis Campbell ~

     Rev. Omar Louis Campbell, 96, of Jackson, Georgia, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2007, at the Sylvan Grove Hospital in Jackson. His wife, Grethel Berkshire Campbell, and daughter, Gwendolyn Campbell Baird, preceded him in death.

    Rev. Campbell was born January 24, 1911 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late J.R. Campbell and the late Jennie Balsinger Campbell.  Rev. Campbell was a retired Free Methodist minister having served for 31 years and was a member of the Fruitville Road Church of the Nazarene in Sarasota, Florida.

   Mr. Campbell was a kind and loving person who enjoyed life and his family. He is remembered as a jack-of-all-trades who could do almost anything with his hands. Survivors include his children, Darwin and Marie Campbell of Jackson, Dwayne and Joyce Campbell of Ashburn, Anita and Don Wilson of Forsyth, Arline and Bob Taylor of Jackson, Sharon Myers of Goshen, Indiana. He was blessed with 18 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; one brother, Glen Campbell of Milford, Delaware; and one son-in-law, Sonny Baird.

    Funeral services for Rev. Louis Campbell were conducted Wednesday morning, May 23, 2007, at I I a.m. in the Sherrell Memorial Chapel. Rev. Tom Cook and Dr. Ed Hoard officiated. Interment followed in the Jackson City Cemetery.

    Sherrell-Wilson-Mangham Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements for Rev. Campbell.
