Mr. Bell submitted designs for the contest on
each grade level. He was notified that Blair placed first in the Third Grade Division of
the statewide contest. On Saturday, September 22, Blair, accompanied by Mom, Kristi and
family, as well as Mr. Bell made the trip to Plains, Georgia, where Blair received her
certificate as well as an autographed book from Mr. Jimmy Carter, 39th President of the
United States. She also had her picture taken with him.
Blair and Bell were also honored as they participated in the Peanut Festival Parade.
Blair's winning postcard design was prominently displayed at the festival and at the
Plains High School Museum.
Mr.
Bell is quoted as stating; "It was a good experience. I was pleased with Blair's use
of radial balance in her design. We had just learned the concept the week before, and she
applied it to the project."
As
you can see in Blair's card design below, she applied those lessons well in her design.
The Inspirations tip our hats to this inspirational teacher. While Mr. Bell began teaching
at Jackson Elementary School this year, we are confident he will continue to be a great
asset to the filed of art education.
